OSRS Magic Money Making: Use Your Power To Gain Coins

By Jesus Marquez | Created: February 16, 2024 | Last updated: December 18, 2024 | Read Time: 15 minutes

Among all the skills you can have and use in OSRS, Magic has great potential for Combat, and you can even use it to get some money into your pockets. Leveling up Magic can lead to an improved experience for some quests and situations where you need to use Magic attacks. Moreover, this skill is useful for unlocking different Spellbooks to help you during your adventure. Using Magic as a principal skill to level up as a F2P or P2P user will have several benefits for all the time you use in-game. Let’s see How to Train Magic While Making Money OSRS!

OSRS Magic Money Making: Benefits

Magic is one of the most important skills in all OSRS. This skill has numerous uses, like being part of the three main combat styles through the use of combat spells: It’s used for fast transport from different locations of the world using teleportation spells and gives you the ability to convert items into coins through utility spells.

You can go through the game without using Magic, but it will disadvantage you. The number of spells you will miss out on, and without the possibility of teleportation will make everything harder to achieve and make it take longer to travel from one place to another. Likewise, the magic skill is a significant part of High-Level Alchemy and runecrafting.

OSRS Magic Money Making will also benefit the skill since it is an essential part of the process, like degrime and casting spells on jewelry that you can use or sell for a profit. A big part of some big earning methods use some level of Magic, even if they don’t get into the skill itself, but use teleporting or alchemy to complete the task. Magic is a key skill to train, and you will need to level up faster to see all the benefits it can bring you during all your adventures in OSRS.

OSRS 1-99 Magic Guide Money Making

Leveling a skill can be tedious and differ from F2P and P2P. Magic is one of those skills players can level up being a free-to-play or member, but, of course, the way to do it will be different depending on your player status. Still, we've got you covered, and here are the best ways to level up for the OSRS Money Making Guide Magic skill.

F2P Money Making With Magic In OSRS Guide

If you are one of the players who don’t have an active membership, you can use this method to go from zero to a wizard in the blink of an eye. Let’s start!

  • Level 1 to 29+: To start your training, we recommend you use the basic strike spells, but also find a way to obtain the Wizard’s Hat, Wizard’s Robe Top, and Zamorak Robe Bottom as a set. Also, we recommend using an Amulet of Magic and your preferred Elemental Staff. From this part, you must use your skill using spells like Fire Strike spell to combat monsters.
  • Level 13 to 37+: You can kill Ogres to level up your skill and find a way to gain some coins in OSRS Magic Money Making. Ogresses are fragile to magic attacks, and you can safespot them within their caves. Using Fire Strike or Fire Bolt spells, you can expect to earn around 100,000 coins per hour, and the best part is that you can AFK train with these monsters.
  • Level 29 to 43/55: Once you reach at least level 29, you can change to this method, where you train until you unlock High-Level Alchemy. This is a fast and cheap way of splashing Curse Spell. You will need a complete armor set of Dragonhide Vambraces or Cursed Goblin Staff to be able to use all the splash spells available. You will expect to gain around 29,000 XP per hour with this method. It’s the best way to level up before reaching level 55.
  • Level 55 to 99: Using Curse Alching as an alternative to level up; however, this spell is similar to Stun Alching, but a lower level curse, and lacks the multi-elemental staves. We recommend using a full set of Green Dragonhide Vambraces, with High-Level Alchemy between casts. You can expect around 100,000 XP per hour after you find a way to make it efficient using this spell.
  • Level 55+: Another way to level up for OSRS Magic Money Making is by using Zamorak Wine, spawning above Falador. This is one of the perfect locations to make some coins. You will take time between the banking or waiting for wines to respawn; here, you can cast High-Level Alchemy and use noted items in your inventory. With this method, you can have around 200,000 coins per hour; sadly, this is not a perfect method because you will experience a shortage in XP gain.

P2P Magic Money Making OSRS

Being a Member in OSRS has wider options to select from when talking about leveling up Magic skill. Moreover, the diversity in methods will make the XP for each of them vary from one to another. The most profitable and fastest methods are the most expensive, but you still have the option of passive Magic training. Let’s dive into the best ways to level up when you are a member:

  • Level 1 to 13: The best way to level up is by using Strike Spells. However, this time, you can use this method to safespot Blue Dragons and have an OSRS Magic Money Making method at the early stages of this skill. This is a weak and expensive spell, so quickly getting through this part is the best alternative. We recommend you have an Airstrike with an Air Staff. Another alternative is to complete quests like Witch’s Potion and Imp Catcher to reach level 10 faster. After that, use Magic potion, you will grind until reaching level 13 and use Fire Strike.
  • Level 13 to 37: Fire Strike is the best option at this point, since it is accurate and hard-hitting. You can kill high-level monsters cheaper than Strike Spells, and it will let you go through other quests like Gnome Stronghold or Fight Arena. You can use this spell to kill dragons, giants, or profitable monsters using a safespot. With a decent accuracy, and you bring some Curse rune to cast while waiting for monsters, you can expect to gain around 20,000 XP per hour.
  • Level 37 to 43/55: For this section that will lead you to OSRS Magic Money Making, you will use Fire Bolt, and you can expect to spend around 100 coins per cast, making it pricier than other spells mentioned before. This spell has a higher base, and damage increases, and if you use Chaos Gauntlets from the Family Crest quest, you can see how your damage is multiplied by 3 when using it. Another thing you must note is that this is one of the most cost-efficient spells to use on profitable monsters like Steel Dragons.
  • Level 43 to 55+: You can use Superheat Items to level up Magic, and Smithing too. This is a great way to gain experience, and you can expect to have around 80,000 XP per hour by using this spell at full concentration. Since everything has a downside, if you buy ores and runes from the Grand Exchange, you will notice a small loss in this method. Still, to overcome this side, you can mine the ores and Superheat them there for maximum efficiency.
  • Level 45 - 55: For this Money Making with Magic in OSRS method, you will require an Air Staff and 1 Law Rune to be able to cast this spell. You will find this the best way to spam teleports to train Magic using the Camelot teleport. Beware, this repetitive task will cost you some coins, but you can get around 80,000 XP per hour. It’s a great way to reach level 55 quickly.
  • Level 55 - 99: It’s time to use High-Level Alchemy to level up. This method turns items into gold every time you cast this spell. You will need to invest some coins to use this OSRS Magic Money Making method since you will need some Nature Runes, and most of the uses of this spell will end in failure. However, alchemy is a zero-time and portable spell; you can use it while training other skills. We recommend using it during Agility training or when you have downtime to run from one point to another during quests. You can even cast this spell between melee hits when training Slayer if you can find the right timing.
  • Level 80 to 99: A higher-level alternative is using Stun Alching to splash it on monsters while you are alchemizing items in between ticks. You must find a training spot where you will be near the spell book to do it. Also, you will require a Mud Staff, full armor, and Dragonhide Vambraces. Experience gain per hour will be around 170,000 XP with some practice. This is the fastest way to train Magic to avoid Hitpoints XP.
  • Level 70 to 99: Another method to train the skill for OSRS Magic Money Making is using Ice Burst spells into the tunnels filled with Maniacal Monkeys during Monkey Madness II. You must head northwest, trying to stack the most monkeys possible to attack them; you will have to run around the corners between hits. Ice Burst will lead to around 300,000 XP per hour, but if you decide to use Ice Barrage, you can expect 400,000 XP per hour.
  • Level 80+: String Jewelry is a great way to level up since this allows you to put strings on amulets without a ball of wool. This is not a really useful spell in most scenarios, but it will help players gain around 130,000 XP per hour. It’s a popular training for Magic, and the only step back is you must complete the Lunar Diplomacy quest to level up to help you for OSRS Magic Money Making.
  • Level 80+: An alternative to leveling up is the Plank Make spell after reaching Magic level 86. You can expect to obtain around 160,000 XP per hour, but first, you must complete Lunar Diplomacy and Lunar Mentor. To begin with this method, cast the Plank Make spell on each Plank; beware, you only cast Plank every 3 ticks, so try to get used to the timing to get it right. If you want to dive into OSRS Magic Logs Money Making, you should create Mahogany Planks over any other logs or type of wood.

OSRS Best Magic Money Making Strategies

With a great Magic level, it comes with great ways for OSRS Magic Money Making. Certainly, there are better methods and strategies to build wealth from Magic skills in OSRS; however, the focus should be on efficiency and, of course, fun. So, let’s find the best OSRS Magic Money Makers.

Casting Tan Leather

To access this OSRS Magic Money Making method, you are required to be at least 78 Magic and complete Lunar Diplomacy, the hard Fremennik Diary. Moreover, you must have access to the Lunar Spellbook. For this method, you will need the following items:

  • Fire Staff
  • Astral Runes
  • Nature Runes
  • Black Dragonhides
  • 20,000,000+ gold
  • Optional: Bryophyta’s Staff and Tome of Fire (charged)

Casting Tan Leather can generate a substantial profit using the Lunar Spell, but it will depend on the Dragonhide prices. You can expect to tan around 8,000 hides per hour, which will actually give you an even greater amount of XP, around 125,000 to 130,000 per hour. Note that this spell costs 418 coins, or 83,6 coins per hide if you do 5 at the time. The best for OSRS Magic Money Making is the Black Dragonhides, but the Red Dragonhides will work, too. Approximately casting 1,600 spells, you can expect a profit of around 987K per hour.

Enchanting Dragonstone Jewelry

Another way for OSRS Magic Money Making is enchanting jewelry, a special kind, like the Dragonstone Amulet. Using some magic, you will profit from creating an Amulet of Glory, an item useful for every player in the game. To make this, you will need a Mud Battlestaff and Cosmic Runes, besides the Dragonstone Amulets to make this. If you are casting manually, you can expect to have around 1,600 spells per hour, but you can maximize your effort to reach up to 1,900 spell casting. The reward for doing this is about 604K gold per hour, but you will need around 19,000,000 coins to get into the method.

Creating Barrows Teleport Tablets

This OSRS Magic Money Making method has several requirements but will give you some profit for all your efforts. Before considering this method, you must fill in the basic requirements that we list for you here:

  • Magic 83
  • Mining 38
  • Crafting 38
  • Agility 52, 69 or 73 for optional shortcuts
  • Construction 85 for POH fairy ring (Optional)
  • Client of Kourend to get Kharedst’s Memoirs OR A Kingdom Divided for Book of the Dead
  • Partial completion of Fairytale II - Cure a Queen to unlock Fairy Rings
  • Pickaxe, but we recommend a Dragon pickaxe
  • Chisel
  • Kharedst's Memoirs or Book of the Dead
  • Earth runes
  • Dramen or Lunar staff or Elite Lumbridge & Draynor Diary completed
  • Teleport to house tablet (Optional)
  • Rune Pouch with law, soul, and Blood runes
  • Celestial ring or Celestial signet for the invisible +4 Mining boost

You must expect around 12 trips per hour using this OSRS Magic Money Making method that goes directly to the Ouditor’s Lectern, but note this will include the complete Graceful Outfit, Agility 80, and completion of the Medium Kourend & Kebos Diary. Of course, you can expect fewer trips without those, so keep that in mind. You will expect to dry your run energy with this method if you are below Agility 90. Use your owned house pool and a Fairy Ring until you reach Agility level 90, where energy will deplete and use the Arceuus Library Teleport for more efficiency. The method will be something like this:

  • Use the teleport to house (tablet) or the Arceuus Library Teleport. At this point, you must restore run energy if needed and use the fairy ring code CIS.
  • Go east, then south, and use the Agility 73 on western rocks shortcut. If you have Agility 69, continue east and use the northern rocks or Agility 52 eastern rocks.
  • This step is optional, but Boost Mining uses the Dragon Pickaxe special attack.
  • You must mine dense essence blocks from dense runestones.
  • Leave the mine by the northern rocks or eastern rocks shortcuts.
  • Head west to the Dark Altar and Venerate, then turn the Dense Essence Blocks into Dark Essence Blocks.
  • Use the Kharedst's Memoirs or Book of the Dead to teleport to A Dark Disposition.
  • Run north to enter Ouditor's house.
  • In the lectern, Make the Barrows teleport tablet.
