Another day, another money making guide to help you hone your skills in-game and fill your bank with riches! In today’s blog, we are focusing on Runecrafting, an underrated skill most people overlook because of all the effort required to level up. However, Runecrafting in RS3 money making is a great way to generate profit without having to face off against any monsters or other creatures, all thanks to the constant high demand for all kinds of Runess. With all that said, let’s break down the Runecrafting skill and all the ways you can make money with it.

Best RS3 Runecrafting Money Making Methods

Runecrafting can become one of your favorite methods for making money since you will have insane investment returns. Runes are one of the key elements of RS3, so the demand will always be high. While the process of making Runes isn't for everyone, it's a business investment that certainly won't disappoint. So, let’s see what are the best and fastest RS3 money making Runecrafting methods:

Necrotic Runes

Necrotic Runes fall into the high-demand category or Runes, and you can start making them from a pretty low level. Of course, with a higher level, the benefits will be greater, but it’s a great way to start your journey inside the Runecrafting money making in RS3. So, check out what you'll need for a successful Necrotic Rune crafting session:

  • 20 Runecrafting (92 recommended)
  • 24 Necromancy (50 recommended)
  • 93 Summoning
  • 36 Archaeology
  • 80 Magic
  • All Runecrafting Pouches
  • Underworld Grimoire 2
  • Infinity Ethereal Outfit
  • Powerburst of Sorcery
  • Passing Bracelet
  • Ring of Imbuing
  • 2 Astral Runes, 3 Cosmic Runes and 5 Body Runes (To cast a Spiritual Healing once per familiar used)
  • Any weapon with the Mobile perk
  • Completion of Necromancy, Rune Mythos and Hero’s Welcome quests, Underworld Achievements, and Livid Farm quest partially complete.

Recommended:

  • Totem of Summoning
  • Bladed Dive or Dive
  • Double Surge Codex
  • Pouch Protector

The downside to this method is the investment you'll need to make. To kickstart, you'll need to invest around 4.3 million coins, but don't be discouraged. This method can see you with an over 600% return rate. You must start at the Um Smithy Bank, open the bank, and then load all your preset items. The altar for this method is on the Haunt on the Hill, where you will find the Dark Portal next to the stairs on the east. You will reach the Altar once inside the Dark Portal. You can expect to do this route about 90 times per hour to obtain a profit of about 33 million coins, one of the highest paying methods associated with Runecrafting money making in RS3.

Dust Runes

This is a type of Rune you can make at different Altars, but you can earn more using a specific one: the Earth Altar with Hot Air Balloon. Using this method, you will be able to make about 109 trips each hour, providing you with a juicy profit, but first, let's see what you need to complete this Runecrafting money making RS3 method:

  • 10 Runecrafting (90 recommended)
  • 82 Magic
  • 93 Summoning
  • 36 Archaeology
  • All Runecrafting Pouches
  • Steam or Elemental Battlestaff
  • Infinity Ethereal Outfit
  • Skills Necklace or Skills Necklace (c)
  • TokKul-Zo or War’s Retreat Teleport
  • Completion of Lunar Diplomacy and Enlightened Journey
  • Access to the Balloon Transport System with the Crafting Guild and Varrock destinations unlocked.
  • Lunar Spells to cast Magic Imbue and Repair Rune Pouch
  • Repair Rune Pouch unlocked
  • Pouch Protector

To get things going with this method, you'll need to invest around 2.8 million coins. Typically, you'll need the 101 Pure Essence on hand. However, we would recommend using the Astral Runes stores in and Rune Pouch, and having your Abyssal Titan Pouch filled with at least 20 Pure Essence. You can store the rest of the Pure Essence among the other Pouches and the full Infinity Ethereal Outfit. For this method, you will start at your most convenient bank. We recommend using the War’s Retreat or TzHaar Fight Cave Bank via the TokKul-Zo.

Arrange your inventory, activate the Skills Necklace and select the third option to teleport you to the Crafting Guild. Now, you must travel north and access the Hot Air Balloon to Varrock. Once there, you must go southeast and enter the Altar Entrance; before crafting, equip the Binding Necklace and cast the Magic Imbue spell. Here, you will use your Air Rune on the Earth Altar to craft the Dust Runes. Then, you simply need to teleport back and repeat the process.

For this Runecrafting money-making in RS3 method, you can expect to earn around 28 million coins per hour if you complete all the trips, making ten times your investment. Certainly a worthwhile endeavor if you're able to afford the initial investment.

Nature Runes Through The Abyss

For this RS3 Runecrafting money making method, you will craft Runes through the Abyss, as you can use the altars for Runecrafting without the need for a Talisman. The Abyss works as glue to connect all planes; this dimension will be your favorite place for all the help you will get during your Runecrafting money making endeavors. Here’s what you need to start with this method:

  • 79 Runecrafting (91 recommended)
  • 93 Summoning
  • 68 Archaeology
  • Infinity Ethereal Outfit
  • Demonic Skull
  • Wilderness Sword 3
  • All Runecrafting Pouches
  • Runecrafting Potion
  • Powerburst of Sorcery
  • Completion of the Here’s Welcome quest and Hard Wilderness Achievements.

Recommended:

  • Nexus Mod
  • Pouch Protector
  • Dive
  • Double Surge Codex
  • Ring of Imbuing

Again, this is a method that has a rather large price tag, but it's well worth it if you can afford it. This method will require you to put up around 7 million coins in order to get the necessary Pure Essence, Powerburst of Sorcery and the Catalytic Anima Stone. It’s a simple method where you can expect to make about 60 trips per hour to the Abyss. On average, you can expect this Runecrafting money making in RS3 method to bring you about 31 million coins per hour, counting the possible Magical Threads you will receive during your endeavors.

This method requires you to invest some of your coins to buy the Pure Essence and the Powerburst of Sorcery, which are the most expensive items you will need to complete the process. Using all the Pouches, from small to massive, you can hold up to 102 Pure Essence Per Trip, which is about 76,730 coins per trip. You can earn about 22 million coins per hour, counting the Magical Threads you will also create.

Water Runes Through The Abyss

Another Runecrafting money making RS3 method that will see you using the Abyss is making Water Runes. As with the other methods, you must travel to this dimension, where you will find different altars for Runecrafting. To make Water Runes, you will need the following:

The expected earnings for this RS3 Runecrafting money making method is about 23.6 million coins; this will include the Magical Threads you will receive during your Runecrafting endeavors.

Blood Runes Through The Abyss

Making Blood Runes is another way to earn a profit through the Abyss. This method will follow a similar path of events to the others created in this dimension, with you entering the dimension and using Pure Essence as you craft at the Blood Altar. Here’s all you could need to use this Runecrafting money making RS3 method:

  • 77 Runecrafting (99 recommended)
  • 93 Summoning
  • 80 Dungeoneering
  • 68 Archaeology
  • 91 Herblore
  • All Runecrafting Pouches
  • Wilderness Sword 3
  • Morytania Legs 2
  • Demonic Skull
  • Infinity Ethereal Outfit
  • Runecrafting Potions
  • Powerburst of Sorcery
  • Ring of Imbuing
  • Completion of Legacy of Seergaze and Hero’s Welcome quests, Medium Morytania and Hard Wilderness Achievements.

Recommended:

  • Nexus Mod (activated on Monolith)
  • Pouch Protector (activated on Monolith)
  • Dive or Bladed Dive
  • Double Surge Codex

Unlike its predecessors, this method requires a lot more concentration and is highly intense; so make sure you remain alert on your trips to the Blood Altar and banking your coins. You'll be using the 5 pouches, so ensure you repair them regularly. An average hour practicing this method will see you completing roughly 72 trips, and you'll earn around 24.6 million, including Magical Thread.

Money making Runecrafting RS3 FAQ

Given the learning curve associated with any money making endeavor, you'll likely have some unanswered questions. Fortunately for our readers, we have answered some of the most frequently asked questions on this topic to ease your confusion. Take a look:

What are the most common items to use during Runecrafting money making in RS3 methods?

During your endeavors, you will see a wide variety of items like the Wilderness Sword or the gloves for specific Runes; however, you will require all five Runecrafting Pouches to carry the Pure Essence when you go to the altar and then Runes when you return to the bank.

The Infinity Ethereal Outfit is a must because it gives a 7% chance of doubling your Runes, allows you to carry 12 extra Runes or Essences with you, and has a 50% chance of not degrading your Pouches, making it unbeatable.

Should I use the Runecrafting Cape after reaching level 99 of Runecrafting?

It’s a great item you can show to make your friends jealous, but it is not as helpful as other items for Runecrafting money making in RS3. We recommend using other clothing pieces, like the Infinity Ethereal Outfit, if you want to maximize your earnings.
