Although it’s a F2P skill, anyone in the game can unlock and level up; for our RS3 Smithing money making guide, we will also cover the P2P methods to make a profit from this skill.
Folding Glorious Bars
If you ever try to make a Masterwork Plate, you will find making Glorious Bars is a must. The process of obtaining a Glorious Bar is tedious, but it is a great way to generate a profit. For this RS3 Smithing money making method, you will need the following requirements:
- 99 Smithing
- Completion of the achievement: It Should Have Been Called Aetherium
- 3 Immaculate Alloy Bars
To begin with this method, you only need to buy Immaculate Alloy Bars. Once you have them, head to any anvil you like, except the anvil in Ashdale, and start folding them. You must repeat this step 1,001 times before you obtain a Glorious Bar. This RS3 Smithing money making method only allows you to make 3 Glorious Bars per hour, as it takes about 20 min for each bar. Although it may be seen as a low production rate, it’s enough to have a return on your investment of 124%. On average, you can expect to have a profit of 12 million gold per hour, which is fantastic for the method.
Smithing Glorious Bar
If you want to take the long road instead of only folding bars to create the Glorious Bar, you can make a similar investment to Smithing them. Of course, to do so, you need to have the following requirements:
- 99 Smithing
- Smelting Gauntlets (recommended)
- Family Crest completed (recommended)
- 135 Bronze Bars
- 135 Iron Bars
- 135 Steel Bars
- 135 Mithril Bars
- 135 Adamant Bars
- 135 Rune Bars
- 135 Orikalkum Bars
- 135 Necronium Bars
- 135 Bane Bars
- 135 Elder Rune Bars
As we mentioned, Glorious Bars are used to create Masterwork Equipment, but using this RS3 Smithing money making method, you will be creating the bars from scratch. You can use any anvil you like, excluding the one in Ashdale. First, you need to make 50 Concentrated Alloy Bars, combining all the bars mentioned as a requirement. Once you have them, you will now need to create 10 Enriched Alloy Bars, which will generate 1 Immaculate Alloy Bar. When you have the Immaculate Alloy Bar, you can start folding and create the Glorious Bar. As mentioned above, you need to fold the bar 1,001 times to produce; this will take you 20 minutes per bar. You can expect a profit of 10 million gold per hour since the production rate is about 2.7 Glorious Bars per hour.
Smelting Elder Rune Bars
This is the ideal bar for players wanting to create Elder Rune equipment, as it's an excellent option for those looking to go into business smelting them; thus growing your bank. For this Smithing money making RS3 method, you will need the following:
- 90 Smithing (94 recommended for Superheat Form or 99 for the Orthen Furnace Core)
- 91 Prayer (for Superheat Form)
- 102 Archaeology (Only for Orthen Furnace Core)

Once you have all the items and requirements, it’s time to begin the process of smelting 1 Light Animica ore, 1 Dark Animica Ore, and 1 Rune Bar together by using the Superheat Form spell. Alternatively, you can use Orthen Furnace Core if you don’t have access to the spell. If you are using an Orthen Furnace Core, you can also use the Superheat Form if you want to accelerate the process without using Prayer Points and increase your profit. Moreover, this RS3 Smithing money making method has an option for AFK.
As we pointed out, the level requirement to use this method is a must because of the ability you unlock at level 92, where you have a 10% chance of doubling a Bar while smelting, and when you reach level 94, you will smelt Elder Rune Bars 50% faster. On average, and if you have access to the Superheat Form Spell, you can expect to have a significant decrease in your rates and profit, but you can still expect a profit of about 8 to 9 million gold per hour.
Smelting Necronium Bars
Another option for RS3 Smithing money making is smelting Necronium Bars. It’s a great way to generate a profit with a lower level Smithing ability in P2P, which is a decent option for those who are just starting to make a profit with the skill. Here are the requirements:
- 70 Smithing (77 recommended for Superheat Form and 99 Smithing for the Orthen Furnace Core)

We recommend having at least level 74 in Smithing, despite the fact you can start with only level 70. A higher level represents a 10% chance of doubling the bar without using any extra resources, which will grant you a higher profit. With level 77, you will also have the ability to smelt Necronium Bars 50% faster. A full inventory of the Necronium Bars will take you about 72 seconds to make if you are using the Superheat Form. Once you have your inventory full, deposit it in a Metal Bank and repeat the process. Not all methods work for everyone, so we want to cover some methods that work for those who are F2P players and have a desire to make some profit from Smithing. You don’t need to be a Member to have your bank full of gold, so let’s begin with some RS3 F2P Smithing Money Making.
Smelting Adamant Bars
A metal bar that was refined using 1 Adamantite Ore and 1 Luminite Ore together in a Furnace or using the Superheat Item Spell. For these Bars, you can start with a medium level of Smithing, but the recommendation is always to have a level that exceeds basic expectation. You can check the requirements here:
- 40 Smithing (47 recommended for Superheat Form and 99 Smithing for the Orthen Furnace Core)
- 91 Prayer
- 102 Archaeology

For this RS3 Smithing money making method, having a higher level of Smithing will bring some benefits like a 25 or 50% faster smelting process with levels 46 and 48 Smithing, respectively. At Smithing level 47, you will have an extra chance of smelting an extra bar without using more resources. You can expect a production rate of about 2,200 bars per hour, with a profit of about 3 to 4 million gold.
Smithing Adamant Dart Tips
If you think creating Adamant Bars wasn’t enough, why not convert them into Dart Tips. For this process, you won’t need to make another investment since you have the Adamant Bars. It's also worth noting that this method is required for completion of The Tourist Trap quest, though it is only available to Members. Outside of that, you can use this Smithing money making RS3 method as a F2P. Before we dive into deeper waters, here’s what you need:
- 40 Smithing
- Completion of The Tourist Trap quest
- 144 Adamant Bars
For this RS3 Smithing money making method, you will need to use an anvil to forge the Adamant Bars into Dart Tips. You surely won’t encounter any issues while doing this method because the Adamant Bars are easily added to the Metal Bank and withdrawn as needed; moreover, the Dart Tips are stackable, and you won’t need to return to bank them. We recommend you have level 49 Smithing since this will allow you to create each Unfinished Smithing Items with the highest heat possible, which will result in a higher number of Dart Tips smithed. On average, your production rate will be around 7,200 Dart Tips per hour, which translates to about 2 to 3 million gold per hour.
